Achievements

Nepoleon entered politics as personal assistant to erstwhile Public Welfare Minister, K. N. Nehru. This close association with Nehru, who also happened to be his uncle, exposed him to the humane face of politics and the ideologies of the DMK. It also gave him the perfect opportunity to hone his leadership skills and prove himself as a capable administrator.

Public Relations and Campaign Co-ordinator

Politics gave Nepoleon ample scope to develop his leadership skills and extend help to the masses. Identifying himself with the common man, Nepoleon was soon hailed as a people’s leader.

From being K. N. Nehru’s assistant, Nepoleon emerged as a key person responsible for managing the party’s propaganda, organizing political rallies and planning and administrating campaigns.

Emerged as people’s leader and elected as MLA

Nepoleon contested his first General Election in 2001 on a DMK ticket from Villivakkam constituency (Asia’s largest constituency). Nepoleon emerged as people’s leader and unanimously elected as the MLA of Villivakkam defeating his nearest rival Dr. A. Selva Kumar of Tamil Manila Congress.

The continuing People Leader's Political Journey from MLA to MP

Nepoleon contested in Parliament Election held in 2009 for DMK party at Perambalur constituency. He won the election with 3, 98,742 votes and unanimously elected as the Member of Parliament He defeated his nearest opponent Mr. Balasubramanian, k.k. (AIADMK) with a margin variance of 77,604 votes.

He emerged as people’s leader, His successful political journey revamp as a MP from MLA.

Humanitarian Activist

Napoleon’s stint as the MLA of Villivakkam was a turning point in his political career. It gave him ample scope to live out his belief that politics was a great way to help people. Napoleon believes whole-heartedly in providing the masses with food, clothing, shelter…and education. Many of his public welfare initiatives emphasise the importance of education.

Napoleon has also roped in the members of his fan club to join hands and partner with him in helping the masses. Reflecting his emphasis on good education, educational components figure strongly in the club’s outreach activities. As part of its ongoing activities, the club also organises blood donation camps and distributes books to needy students.

Public Servant

Napoleon believes that "No politician can be a leader, without also being a good public servant and learning to serve people, without expecting anything in return". His leadership is marked by a high level of humanitarianism and a strong emphasis on reaching out to the downtrodden.

As the MLA of Villivakkam, Napoleon was always approached for help. But even after his tenure, people continue to flock to him.

As one friend puts it, "Napoleon goes out of his way to help people. Whenever there is a crisis, people don’t hesitate to visit him and ask for help as they feel he is very approachable. He has earned himself a reputation as a 'friend in need'.
